Christmas sweaters

December 2, 2014

We put out the call on Facebook for pictures of teachers in festive (cheesy?) Christmas sweaters and you responded!

(Well, two of you did, anyway).

Leanne Varughese, a Grade 6 teacher at Cold Lake’s Art Smith Aviation Academy. Here’s the story behind Varughese’s sweater, in her own words.

“Christmas is my all-time favourite time of year. As a child I looked forward to seeing my teachers dressed in their festive holiday attire. I feel it helps promote Christmas spirit and create excitement for the upcoming holiday. My goal is to eventually have enough Christmas sweaters that I can wear a new one every day for the month of December. This year I plan on wearing this sweater once a week until the Christmas holiday!”

Amy Jesse, a teacher at Didsbury Career High School.

Her story:

“The sweater came from my grandma a few years ago. She bought one for each of her granddaughters so we could match for family pictures at our Christmas gathering (I was already an adult and my youngest cousin was nine). I’m not a huge Christmas sweater buff (well, in retrospect, maybe I am as I also have multiple pairs of Christmas-themed pants), but I adore everything to do with Christmas. We host a large gathering every year, do mass amounts of baking, have a Santa Claus lawn display, two trees, etc. We enjoy our traditions with our family every year.”
